Some of the best pictures I have ever taken have been the ones that just randomly happen. Sometimes there is no inspiration leading up to an image… it’s just a totally random chance.
This was one of the very last shots I had taken the evening of this engagement session. It was actually getting kind of dark on the streets of Pasadena and by random chance there was a tiny little break between two buildings that let just enough gold light spill through, and then…. Boom! Just like that, I fell in love with Photography again.
No matter what, I just can’t quit this bitch!
Photography, you got me so wrapped up! I love the way you make me feel like I am somewhat talented, and I never get board because you always have a way to put my ass back in check too! I am never 100% satisfied that I have mastered you, yet you continuously give me little reminders every time I shoot that I am right where I’m supposed to be!

I feel honored to be someone who truly loves myself and my life! Although things are not always perfect in MY eyes, I know they are perfect in Gods eyes! The more gratitude I feel the more blessings come my way. It’s really an easy formula to figure out. It’s not like I am any more deserving or any more special than anyone else. We all have the power within ourselves to have the life of our dreams! What’s stopping you from having the relationship or your dreams, the house of your dreams, the job of your dreams, or the body of your dreams??? It’s all right there for YOU to grasp! It’s so much closer and possible than you can imagine.
I know MY life is a living, breathing, walking miracle (so is YOURS!) and the more you and I realize this, the better everything will continue to get! I promise!
Let’s continue to be blown away by our very existence?

An oldie but a goodie…

So this past weekend I got to photograph an old friend and his family. My Mom use to babysit Brian and his little sister Jennifer when we were all kids. I swam on a swim team with them and spent many nights staying the night at their house. I was little, maybe 8 or 9 years old. It was a long time ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
Brian is now married to Shannon (a very cool and powerful women who needs to have her own TV show about motherhood, her daily Facebook posts will have you laughing your ass off for sure). They have two kiddos, Aiden (3) and Makenna (5).
While photographing this family I got a split second with their daughter Makenna and this was the shot I got. I just told her stand right here and look right into my camera. Most of the time when I say something so direct to a child I get a goofy reaction and the child starts to be silly, but not this time! She looked dead into the lens and put her hands together in front of her, and then the wind blew softly through her hair. It was like magic! I really feel like I captured something so beautiful. This little girl is only 5 years old but her eyes tell such a story. I haven’t been captured like this by a subject in awhile. This little one reminded me of how wonderful and beautiful it is to be young, to have the whole world ahead of you!
I just love this photograph! Thank You Shannon and Brian for hiking up that steep hill with your family and being such great sports! I’m so proud to see the life you have created for yourselves! Well done! You guys ROCK!

Have you ever had a friend who could do no wrong in your eyes? A person who you totally trust and honor? This is a picture of a friend I feel this way about.
This woman is stronger than she knows. She is the sweetest most genuine person. She makes great sandwiches! She has killer style and is very fun to hang out with too!
I’m not saying this person is perfect, but she is a perfect friend for me!
Today I honor YOU Ms. Kelly Leiker! You are beautiful, smart, funny, and worth more than you will ever know! I know that many people including myself feel honored to have YOU in their lives! Thank you for being you! YOU brighten my world, and for this I am beyond grateful!
